Weekend Scrapbooking Retreat August 24, 2009

Hi scrappers!

I want to tell you all about an event that is coming up very soon.  The gal running the event is near and dear to my heart. In fact, she is my very best friend in the world.  We have known each other since we were 16.  We won’t worry about how long that has been, just trust me it’s been a long time.  :)

The event that she hosts is called  CROP 2 HELP.  This is a weekend long scrapbook event held at a lovely, large house in a beautiful country setting located in Springville, AL.  We get to scrap in our jammies and eat round the clock if we want to.  This year it is scheduled for September 25th-27th.  The crop is a charity crop to benefit the children of the Shriner’s Hospital.  You can get all the details about it here   www.crop2help.blogspot.com .  We always have a wonderful time at this crop and the fact that we are helping children makes it even better.  Feel free to email Jerri with any questions that you have, she will be more than happy to give you any assistance that you might need.  Or if you prefer, comment on this post with your questions and I will do my best to get that information for you as quickly as possible.

I never cease to be amazed at the wonderfully generous and loving hearts that scrapbookers possess.  I hope you will be able to attend this event.  It is truly a wonderful time to get out and just have a lovely weekend to yourself to catch up on your scrappbooking and bond with ladies who have the same love and desire to document their lives and their family’s lives.  Tammy, Irasema and I will all be there so do not worry that you won’t know anyone.  Before the weekend is over you will have made many new friends!

Jeanette

In April there is a Beginning hybrid class (digital meets traditional scrapbooking) at Scrapbook Mania in Bessemer.  The beginner class is $20 and is Saturday, April 25th from ten to noon.  If you want to sign up for the class call (205) 424-4246 to sign up.   http://www.myscrapbookmania.com/classes.html read the last line of the Hybrid class for the beginning class information.

Also, Scrap Etc.  is  having a several day event in Atlanta from April 30th to May 2nd and details of this event can be found here http://scrapetcevents.blogspot.com/ .

Our crop last Friday night, while small, brought in some old and some new friends.  Thanks to all who were there.  I had a good time with you and the Public Library thanks you for your donations.

For folks who come to the April crop, the following day is the Mania class.  Perhaps we can organize a couple cars and carpool to the class.  While gas is certainly less expensive now than before, it is still better for our environment and I think it is more fun to go with other scrapbookers.  So post here, or speak up at the crop if you are interested in carpooling to the class.

Our March crop is this coming Friday and the feature I wanted to add will happen in April. For the April crop I want to add the option of a yard sale of scrapbook items.  So, for anyone who has scrapbook items that are ready for a new home, tag them and bring them to set at one end of your table for others to shop.  Spring is the season for clearing out clutter and this is a good chance to clean out any scrapbook tools, paper, embellishments, supplies, that are taking up space and not likely to be used.  The cost is the same as usual, five dollars to come and that five dollars continues to go to the public library.  There is no fee associated with the yard sale part.  All money for yard sale items goes directly to the seller.

More dates to add to your calendar. September 9, 2008

Ok, so here are the dates for our school year of crops.

2008 – September 26, October 17, November 21, skip December.

2009 – January 16, February 20, March 27, April 24, May 15.

All crops are $5, all are at the Tuscaloosa Department of Transportation  http://www.ci.tuscaloosa.al.us/index.asp?NID=63, and all are from 5-midnight.

Please write your check for the first crop to the Tuscaloosa Public Library and mail your check to me, Tammy Barkey at 4712 Oneida Avenue, Northport, AL 35473 to secure your spot.

I am excited to have a schedule of many dates ahead of us.  The cost for the crop will go to a charity or non-profit organization of my choosing.  I request that your check be written directly to the recipient of the funds and I will simply collect and deliver the checks.  Your check will secure your space and, while knowing how many to expect will aid in proper setup, no one will be turned away the night of if you have your check and you want to crop.

Keep a lookout for new posts! August 20, 2008

Hi all, I know I have been off the blog for a good long time, but I preparing to post a list of dates for the 2008-2009 school year.  The crops will be held in the same location as before and will be for Friday nights from 5-midnight once a month.

I am looking forward to having a school year’s worth of dates so we can all get them on our calendar.  This will also allow you to spread the word and grow our scrapbooking community.

So, keep a watch on my site and I will be back with more soon.
